Days before the "Friends" reunion episode was shot in April of last year,
Matthew Perry stated he had to have "emergency dental surgery."
The 53-year-old actor said during a sit-down that aired on Friday on ABC's
"Nightline" that "they did all sorts of things," adding that the process "made
[his] mouth feel like fire."
At the time, people were concerned for Perry's health due to his slurred
speech and thousand-yard stare.
He admitted, "It sounded like my voice was weird," but he "couldn't not turn
up," he reasoned.
He explained to the experienced interviewer why he decided to "just go and do
the best that I could," who had seen the "fatigue and wear on his speech and
voice.
Perry recently revealed that he hasn't used any drugs or alcohol in the past
18 months, therefore he was just recently sober by the time the eagerly
awaited reunion was shown in May 2021.
Prior to the publication of his memoir, "Friends, Lovers, and the Big
Terrible Thing: A Memoir," on November 1st, which the "Whole Nine Yards"
star has extensively discussed in recent interviews, the actor spoke to
Sawyer.
One of the many shocking revelations he made was that he had to have all of
his front teeth replaced because one of them fell out when he was eating
peanut butter on toast.
