Dozens of people suffer ‘cardiac arrest’ during Halloween festivities in Seoul

 According to Yonhap News Agency, dozens of individuals are receiving medical care in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, as a result of an event that occurred during Halloween celebrations there.



According to Yonhap, people experienced "cardiac arrest," which it attributed to fire authorities. At least 81 people in Seoul's Itaewon area reported "difficulty breathing" to emergency personnel.

The incident's cause and the conditions of those hurt have not yet been fully disclosed by the authorities.


Social media images showed individuals sleeping in the streets as the Itaewon neighbourhood of Seoul was sealed off by police.


According to the presidential office, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol dispatched a disaster medical support team to the Halloween tragedy.


In a briefing, presidential spokesperson Lee Jae-Myung said that the president also gave instructions to undertake speedy rescue efforts and treatment, arrange emergency beds in adjacent hospitals, and secure emergency services.


According to a statement from the office, Yoon was present in an urgent discussion about the matter.
