Why I'd never want to experience what it's like being an entertainment celebrity

Maybe if I was offered to experience what it’s like for one day, I’d try it.

But overall, my answer is no.

And my main reason why?

I wouldn’t want to deal with the attention of the public.

Although it may feel good to be recognized by random people, it comes with downsides. And to me, the downsides outweigh the upsides.

Those downsides include, but aren’t limited to:

1. Lack of privacy

Strangers in public will want to either talk to me, or take pictures with me, or of me. If they’re really crazy, they may even show up to my house unannounced.

2. Constant unwanted attention

On top of what I wrote in point #1, there’s the constant barrage of comments and messages on social media to deal with.

And within those comments and messages, you have…

3. The entitled critics

Those are the people who’ll judge every little thing I do or say that they see as wrong. And they think they can tell me what I can or can’t do with my life.

And all that can potentially lead down to a path of mental issues.

But what about being a local business celebrity?

Now that changes things. You can benefit from the upsides without experiencing too much of the downsides.

And if you’re a local business celebrity, that can lead to some new business.

But what makes a business celebrity? Or at least, what makes it feel like you’re meeting a business celebrity?

In my simple, personal definition, when you see someone you admire on TV, listen to them on a podcast, or see them on a livestream before meeting them in the flesh.

That’s the exact same feeling I got when I met the great business and mindset coach, David Neagle, in-person.

On the other hand, I once met Dwight “Doc” Gooden, who apparently was known as one of the greatest pitchers of the NY Mets. I’m not a baseball fan, nor have I ever heard or seen him in my life. So to me, meeting him didn’t feel like that big of a deal.

With that said, if you want to achieve that pseudo celebrity status, which can make a great marketing asset, I suggest you start getting yourself in the media.

Yes, that includes podcast shows. The resource linked below can help you easily get booked on podcasts.
