The prestige and rating systems in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 might be somewhat perplexing at first. This article covers the system in full, whether you're new to the series or simply want to know how prestige will function going forward. There is a lot to discuss, ranging from Daily Challenges to what occurs once you reach Military Rank 55. In the campaign(opens in new tab), you won't quite reach Amsterdam level prestige, but you'll come close.
Explained: Modern Warfare 2's prestige and rankings
Similar to earlier games in the series, like Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard, Modern Warfare 2's prestige system is based on seasons. There are still a few weeks to go before you start advancing in prestige since Season 1 doesn't start until November 16.
You can still begin your path to Military Rank 55 even though the season is not yet live. You can change your rank level back to MR 1 once Season 1 starts, and you'll get a prestige level in its place. Then you can repeat the process to reach MR 55 once again, get the following prestige rank, and so forth.
As you advance through these levels, you'll receive more standard multiplayer loadouts as well as the chance to personalise them with Warzone 2.0 weaponry starting at Rank 4. You'll also have access to weapon platforms that you can customise in the Gunsmith, deadly and tactical gear for your multiplayer loadouts, as well as the perks, field upgrades, and killstreaks you'll need for online modes.
How to earn Player XP for the Military Rank in Modern Warfare 2
Both before and after achieving any prestige ranks, you'll require player XP to raise your Modern Warfare 2 Military Rank. While you can easily get it by doing the standard multiplayer mode activities, such kills or headshots, there are a number of other objectives that you can complete to level up more quickly.
You can level up your Modern Warfare 2 military rank in the following ways:
Perform activities during multiplayer games, such as killing and shooting heads off.
Complete daily challenges in Special Ops and multiplayer.
Complete career challenges in Special Ops and multiplayer
Complete Bonus Tasks
There are three basic types of daily tasks in multiplayer: A general goal, such as finishing a match or scoring 15 kills while aiming down sights, a weapon challenge, such as scoring five Sniper Rifle kills or five headshots with an SMG, and a unique mission requiring a particular piece of Loadout gear, such as Field Upgrades or Perks.
Additionally, if you finish all three Daily Challenges, you'll unlock a Bonus goal. You have a choice between two activities, but you only need to complete one of them to earn the additional XP.
