Obama tells Midwestern voters worried about inflation that GOP is ‘not interested in solving problems’

In an effort to influence voters who are concerned about inflation, former President Barack Obama warned on Saturday in two crucial Midwestern states that Republicans trying to take control of Congress have no plans to curb prices and may target social safety net programmes.

Obama highlighted the economic challenges Americans confront while campaigning with Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer in Detroit and Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and Democratic Senate candidate Mandela Barnes in Milwaukee. But he claimed that giving the GOP control of Capitol Hill would not significantly help to address those issues.

He remarked in Wisconsin, "In your core, you should have a sense: Who cares about you?"

Obama attacked Republican Sen. Ron Johnson, Barnes' opponent, in a statement that quickly went viral on social media.

Obama attacked Republican Sen. Ron Johnson, who is running for a third term and is Barnes' opponent. He noted Johnson's prior remarks likening Social Security administration to a "Ponzi scheme" and chastised Johnson for supporting the 2017 GOP-led tax reform.

"A few of you in this room receive Social Security. Many of your parents receive Social Security benefits. Your grandparents may receive Social Security benefits. Do you know why Social Security exists? said Obama. "Since they worked hard for it. For it, they put forth a lot of effort. Their hands are chapped as a result. For the Social Security, they worked long hours and suffered from aching backs and weak knees.

"And if Ron Johnson does not understand that — if he understands providing tax breaks for private planes more than he understands ensuring that seniors who have worked their entire lives can retire with dignity and respect," the former President said, "he's not the person who's thinking about you, knows you, and sees you, and he should not be your senator from Wisconsin."

In the days leading up to the November 8 midterm elections, Obama is visiting several of the most crucial battleground states. Obama made appearances in Michigan and Wisconsin in addition to holding a gathering in Georgia on Friday. On Tuesday, he will travel to Nevada, and on Saturday, he will join President Joe Biden for a number of engagements in Pennsylvania.
The governors' campaigns in each of the five states are fiercely contested, and all but Michigan also include Senate races that will affect which party controls the evenly divided chamber.

They don't care about fixing issues.

On Saturday, the former President painted the modern GOP as uncaring and unyielding, saying that the party, with few exceptions, was subservient to former President Donald Trump's whims.

"Own the liberals and get Donald Trump's endorsement. Obama stated in Milwaukee, "That's their plan.

They have little interest in finding solutions to issues. They want to enrage you so they can look for someone to blame, he said. And they're hoping it won't draw your attention away from the fact that they have no solutions of their own.
