New information has come to light regarding the alleged assault on Chris Redd.
The Saturday Night Live star was allegedly assaulted on October 26. The New York City Police Department has published a photo of the man they believe is involved. Authorities are requesting the public's help in identifying the man who is suspected of hitting a 37-year-old man in the face outside the Comedy Cellar on October 26 at 9:40 p.m. in Manhattan's Greenwich Village district. Redd's name has not been given by the police.
According to a statement from NYPD to E! News on October 28, "The victim was in front of 117 Macdougal Street when an unidentified male man approached the victim, unprovoked, and hit him in the face with a clenched fist." The male then sprinted away.
The unidentified accused assailant in the photo is described by NYPD as "a guy, with dark skin colour, around 35 to 40 years of age" in the statement. Police described him as 6-foot-2 inches tall, 280 pounds, with a "heavy frame," adding that he "was last seen wearing a multi-color fedora hat and a black facemask." He was also last seen wearing a blue jacket, blue shirt, black pants, black, grey, and white sneakers.
The victim was brought to Bellevue Hospital after the attack for treatment of face injuries caused by a cracked nose. He was later treated and freed, according to the authorities.
Photos of the victim, who looks to be Redd, being treated for his bloody wounds were obtained by TMZ.
The event occurs just before the 37-year-upcoming old's comedy special Why Am I Like This?, which will air on HBO Max on November 3.
While promoting his event on Instagram on October 20, he stated, "14 years of hustle...countless amount of shows. "Years of doing stupid stuff and nearly never getting into scandal all led to this!"
Chris' team was contacted by E! News for comment, but no response was received.
